London is the food capital of the world right now. From Chelsea to Brick Lane, via Covent Garden, Bermondsey and Bishopsgate, London chefs and their teams are serving up the world’s hottest food and there are so many celebrated restaurants to try that you could dine out every week of the year and still not experience all the cuisines the world has to offer.
Earlier this summer, we were lucky enough to work with The Ivy Chelsea Garden, Lima London, Blanchette East and Clos Maggiore, on behalf of a client. We experienced these restaurants’ contemporary, delicious dishes, each crafted to sensory perfection and created with love.
Lima London: Fitzrovia
Origin: Peru
Chef: Robert Ortiz & Sergio Arocas
Need to know: the only Peruvian restaurant in London with a Michelin star. Virgilio Martinez, Executive Chef, is ranked 4 in the World’s 50 Best Chefs list and number 1 in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurant’s list.
Lima lives the philosophy that good food promotes the balance of body and soul, the love of nature, and creativity. Virgilio says “Before, chefs were only in the kitchen, but now we have to come out and talk about the social impact of food. As chefs we have an obligation to be responsible because if we use one particular ingredient, someone may copy it or try to source it, too, and adversely affect the environment. There are still ingredients we don’t know – we are playing with unknown things. But by the same token, we are using global cooking techniques we learn from all over and bring back.
