Having sensitive skin, I have always used gentle skin care products, to avoid irritation. These products tend to be easy to find but I had previously struggled to find a sun lotion that agreed with my prickly heat prone skin. However, this year that changed when I came across a brand called Green People. This brand has an array of organic product ranges, including skin care, hair care and even tooth care.
Green People’s sun lotions are composed of natural ingredients; a blend of aloe vera, inositol, edelweiss, green tea, avocado and a filter derived of cinnamon. The sun lotion also prides itself for not clogging pores, ideal for prickly heat sufferers. This is because prickly heat is a rash often caused by sun cream blocking the skin’s sweat glands, causing a highly itchy inflammation.
When using the sun lotion, the first thing I noticed was that it felt like I was using a moisturiser. My skin felt instantly hydrated and the cream had a lovely aloe vera smell. Not only that, but it worked. For the first time in years I had no problems with prickly heat and was also the only one on holiday that did not burn. The lotion’s antioxidants prevent UV damage, meanwhile the tan accelerator helps you tan 25% faster. I came back from holiday a fantastic colour, without having to lie out in the sun painstakingly for hours on end.
Having been back for almost a month now, I have noticed how my tan has lasted longer than what I am used to. I have no problems with dry skin and still very much golden in colour. I have continued wearing it whilst being back in the city, most recently last weekend when I was in the sun all day for Citadel festival. The travel size version of the cream is so versatile, that I can just put it in my handbag and take it anywhere.
Regardless of whether you suffer from prickly heat or not, Green People’s sun lotion has so many brilliant qualities that I would recommend it to anyone. It is also reassuring to know that what you are repeatedly slapping on your skin is made with natural ingredients rather than chemical compounds.
