We first heard about Cohen & Sons over on Twitter, and got chatting to the owner, Zach – we were enchanted by his story. He gave up his job after a motorbike accident, and went all in reviving his family business and developing a clothing brand in honour of his Grandfather, a New Yorker who owned a tailors on 536 Broadway 67 years ago, who had to shut up shop due to competition from foreign mass-produced clothing manufacturers.
Zach’s dream was to produce good quality, no nonsense clothes for men. No fuss, no hipster styling just well-made, good quality clothes that won’t fall apart after a couple of wears. They model the clothes themselves, and go on adventures making little videos along the way. We love Zach’s attitude, it’s a surprisingly simple and yet pretty rare to find such a brand philosophy in a world full of fast fashion, where quality is often secondary.
We reckon his Grandpa Jack would be pretty proud of what he’s achieved so far.
The range currently consists of T-shirts, hoodies and a couple of accessories. They start shipping this week and Zach is already looking to expand the collection into button up shirts. They work with a small number of skilled manufacturers to ensure quality and consistency – watch the video of the printing process below.
We asked Zach and the team to choose their favourite piece from the collection and they went for the Boardwalk Henley Tee:
‘We really can’t get enough of the Boardwalk Henley. It’s absolutely in our weekly rotation! Once Guys throw it on and wear it for a day they’re hooked and always come back and buy a few more. Every other day I get a call from a friend about how they scored a compliment on the street.”
..and the best bit? They ship to the UK, so go and say hi over on Twitter, check out their website here and let us know what you order!
