If there’s one man who’s influenced the style of men ranging from Premier League footballers to Vilnius hipsters, it’s Cillian Murphy in his role as Thomas Shelby in the magnificent Peaky Blinders. And it’s not just the short-back-and-sides. The flat cap has been ubiquitous for several years now, loved by men and women alike.
Soon to be seen in Dunkirk, and currently starring in comedy thriller Free Fire, Cillian Murphy’s ethereally delicate features are juxtaposed by his mesmerising ability to portray a spectrum of characters convincingly.
Talking of mesmerising, his default colour for clothes is blue, the same colour as the Irish eyes he’s been blessed with. In this week’s Mr Porter Journal, he explains his style:
“It’s just safe, man. You can’t go wrong with navy. My taste is very much: a good pair of jeans, a good jacket, a good pair of shoes. Well-made things that fit. I’m not adventurous.”
